Feature request: script for adding one new word

I like the update packages very much for largs-scale changes to the lexicon and/or language model.

For the on-the-fly addition of a new word, this approach is - of course - too expensive in terms of runtime and RAM usage. Hence, I would like to suggest a shortcut script that just adds one word with its pronunciation. Does anybody have such a script?
