Months with less than 31 days

I just included this in my projecting and it's having a bunch of issues. The main thing I am noticing is when you select a day in a month with less than 31 days, the date gets moved forward to the next month (ie: selecting "Sep 7th" would return "Oct 7th"). This is really confusing me and I have no idea why or where this is happening.
