Datasource filter working on contain search instead of exact

While using datasource.addFilter for a column the search is on contain basis instead of exact search.
Suppose my table have 2 rows with column values 'TEST1', 'TEST11'
If i search for TEST1 then i get both rows as a result.Is it the expected behaviour?
Also is there any example for writing my own custom filter while using datasource.addFilter?
