Loading the Variable Font Breaks Font Rendering on Windows

If I try to use the variable version of the font in Microsoft Word, I get an error as soon as I start typing, and the program stops rendering fonts altogether. I can't read the error message because it won't render it either. If I try restarting Word, I get the unreadable error message again, and the program hangs. To top it all off, fonts randomly stop rendering in my other programs, too, and I have to restart my computer to get them working right again. I don't know how you made this font, but my computer does not like it.
