Unit Tests Support

First off thanks for this awesome boilerplate. I see you have a couple integration tests in there which is great, but could you add unit test support and a couple of tests for the existing modules. I think ideally I would add them in the module's directory themselves, maybe under "unit" or "specs". I'd love to see your approach to this.

Start by locating the existing integration tests, test configuration, and modules they cover. Add unit-test support and a couple of tests for existing modules, with the tests placed consistently near their modules, then run the project's test command to verify they pass.
