mine Linux Software Map files

A quite old format (early/mid 1990s) which is still used by some packages (`e2fsprogs`, `chkrootkit`, `pciutils` and `lm_sensors` are recent packages I found it in) is the "Linux Software Map", which is defined here:

It might be that this is superfluous and outdated, but could be useful when mining older software.
