Description

In places similar to US cul-de-sacs, quietway walking/cycling networks could possibly be built using existing residential streets. Often there are deliberate severances between the cul-de-sac and a main road. Could we automatically find possible places for new connections (additionally limiting to publicly owned parcels, when data is available) and main road crossings?

Research direction

The issue describes generating quietway proposals by analyzing street networks, focusing on cul-de-sacs and public parcels. Start by exploring the codebase for existing network analysis or street data processing modules. Look for functions that handle street severances or parcel data. Determine how to identify potential connections and main road crossings, then implement an algorithm to propose new quietway routes.
