Research direction

Start by examining the entry points for opening macOS app bundles and executables, then trace how dependent frameworks or dylibs and exported type archives are currently loaded. Done means an app bundle can be opened directly and its relevant included libraries are available during analysis without manual framework loading.

Description

Component: Core Effort: Medium Impact: Low

What is the feature you'd like to have?
I want:

  1. to be able to open macOS (and maybe iOS) app bundles directly, without opening the main executable
  2. for Binary Ninja to automatically include frameworks (and maybe dylibs?) from that .app bundle in analysis

Is your feature request related to a problem?
Currently, Binary Ninja does not recognize types from included frameworks. One is required to open the framework and export a type archive.

Are any alternative solutions acceptable?
Automatically reading frameworks when an executable inside a .app is opened could work.
