Research direction

Reproduce the regression on a Steam Deck OLED using SteamOS 3.8 and RDR2 with the reported 45 FPS limit, then compare it with SteamOS 3.7. Check whether GTA V and Star Wars Battlefront II show the same behavior; done means identifying the 3.8 change responsible or narrowing the regression to a reproducible component.

Description

My setup: Steam Deck OLED 512 GB, no BIOS modifications, no Decky Loader, and everything disabled in the Quick Access Menu - Performance, except the Frame Limit, which is set to 45.

My issue: On SteamOS 3.7, I played RDR2 with smooth performance at a stable ~45 FPS (mix of Low and Medium settings, 800p, no FSR). After upgrading to SteamOS 3.8, performance dropped significantly to around ~30 FPS, accompanied by frequent stuttering and freezing. I observed similar performance regression in several other games (e.g. GTA V, Star Wars Battlefront II). After rolling back to SteamOS 3.7, performance returned to normal and was smooth again.
