Research direction

The report names no repository files, tests, or entry points. Start by reproducing the shader-loading freeze and mission-loading menu exit on SteamOS 3.8.14 with Gears 5 and Doom Eternal, comparing the working Resident Evil 4 case. Done means the failure is isolated and a verified fix or actionable diagnosis is documented.

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

I’ll try to boot a different variety of games from the big picture steam menu and the moment I press play the shaders begin to load, but sometimes freeze my PC immediately. I tried clearing my cache and my download section and making all games loaded with proton experimental. I had gotten some progress where gears of war five got all the way to the campaign lobby and once I was trying to load into the game and actually move around and play, I get booted back to the main menu for Steam. I tried loading other games resident evil four works fine and boots no issue but other games like doom eternal will freeze my PC.

Steps for reproducing this issue:
  1. Download current Steam OS 3.8
  2. Download and play Gears5 or Doom Eternal
  3. Gears5 loads after clearing download cache(was freezing while PC beforehand) boot Doom Eternal (loading Vulcan shaders freezes PC)

Other games load like Resident Evil 4

My specs are Rog Strix B850-I,Ryzen 5 9600x, 2 TB SANDISK Optimus 7100 NVMe, Rx 9070 Xt OC gigabyte
