Description
Creating as a placeholder for comment. This issue is similar to #3690 which sought to flesh out support for complex-valued columns in data.table.
Raw-valued columns are actually much easier to support than complex (they are a simple type with no NAs), but I am less sure about use cases.
So please speak up if you find yourself using raw-valued columns in your work and run into constraints from lack of support in data.table. Workarounds (cast to integer) are easy enough but if there are legitimate use cases we should provide direct support for raw (it's mostly copy-pasting code from INTSXP branches with slight adjustments).
