Description

GPU normal estimation is available in both the cuda and gpu modules. The cuda module version appears to be older and less maintained. Is there a benefit of keeping the cuda normal estimation around, or should it be deprecated in favor of just using the gpu module?

Research direction

Compare the normal-estimation implementations in the CUDA and GPU modules, starting with the module entry points and their existing documentation or tests. Determine whether the CUDA version provides distinct value, then document a clear deprecation or retention decision and update the affected module references if a decision is reached.
