Description

Context

The installation procedures are pretty old and people have to rely on third-party blogs to find reliable instructions.

Expected behavior

The installation steps and details for most of the situations should be available on the website and the PCL repo.

The compilation FAQ also needs to be updated using past reported issues.

First steps

  1. Read the whole issue, then the project's contributing guide.
  2. Comment on the issue to say you are picking it up — it saves two people doing the same work.
  3. Fork the repository and make your change on a branch.
  4. Open a pull request that references the issue number.

Research direction

Review the existing installation procedures on the PCL website and repository, then use past reported issues to identify gaps in the compilation FAQ. Update the installation steps and situation-specific details in both locations, and expand the FAQ so the documented guidance covers the recurring problems found.
