Description
It'll be great to support plugin variables out of the box for android and ios platform. (ex: API keys that should be defined per plugin installation).
We decided to delete the current implementation as it doesn't work for android (plugin with .aar) and add backlog item for future implementation of the feature.

Research direction
Review the issue context and PR #4521, which removes the current plugin-variable implementation. Clarify how variables should be defined per plugin installation for Android and iOS, including plugins distributed as .aar files. Done means the agreed feature works for both platforms and supports the stated API-key use case.
