Start by reproducing npm install macos-alias on MacOS Sierra and follow the node-gyp rebuild entry point into src/volume.cc. Compare the compiler errors from the referenced CoreFoundation CFURL.h declarations with the package's native build configuration. Done means the package installs successfully on the reported environment.
