Home page should have some content to welcome users

The home page exists, now what? There should be some more information on this page and it would be nice if it looked neat.

This is what the home page looks like. It would be nice for this page to welcome folks and tell folks how to get started making a blog.

Someone with some more design experience should maybe work on a wireframe that we can work off of.
