Description

My understanding (from Imageomics/Collaborative-distributed-science-guide#65) is that sum-buddy can generate a file metadata csv for a local (multi-file, multi-directory) dataset.

Maybe it would be useful to add the capability to use this local, or locally generated metadata file to check a HF upload for completeness.

Research direction

Start by reviewing sum-buddy's existing local metadata generation and Hugging Face repository-checking entry points; the issue names no specific files or tests. Define how a local or locally generated metadata CSV maps to the uploaded repository, then verify that the check reports whether the upload is complete.
