Review use/purpose of motorExtensions repository

The https://github.com/ISISComputingGroup/EPICS-motorExtensions repository contains some settings files that are used as the basis for instruments and are also used by the test framework. However they have diverged from what is on an instrument e.g. the settings used for some of the sans2d tests were incorrect and not reflecting what is on the instrument. Do we need this duplication and possible source of errors?
