Description
I have tried bunches of dicom and nifti files and they are all in greyscale mode.
However the output PNG files are all in RGB three-channel mode rather than correct luminosity single channel mode.
Is it a bug or lack of options?

Research direction
Reproduce the conversion with representative DICOM and NIfTI files, then inspect the resulting PNG image mode. The issue is complete when greyscale inputs produce PNG output stored as a single luminosity channel rather than RGB; the repository provides no file or test names to start from.
