Joining a game for the first time at launch gets ignored

The first time I try to join a game after launching FA, the game process doesn't launch, and it only launches on subsequent tries. I believe there's some initialization involved that gets run for the first time, and some other check realizes that it's not yet finished and aborts the launch.
