DOM Input GUI elements in the canvas

Could you demonstrate how to make sliders, buttons, text/number input controls that live in the canvas? It would be cool to make a GUI that I could draw inside the app canvas and not have to depend on CSS for styling.

If this is already easily accomplished can someone point me to where I can learn about it? Thanks!
