Functiontypes can not be set as "out" or "return" values.

but also do not trigger a generation error. In my opinion, nothing speaks against allowing and implementing this feature. Probably this is related to issue #104

Start by reviewing related issue #104 and tracing where function types are validated during component generation. The issue names no files or tests; completion would require an agreed design, successful handling of function types as out or return values, and a generation test covering the new behavior.
