Add a `load_extension()` function

- core namespaces are currently imported at the root level of the project so
they're available on all `Session` instances
- if namespaces packaged here include optional dependencies etc. it might make
sense to have a function to load selected extensions
- bonus: get type checking/IDE tools could to work in code where extension is loaded
