## Use Case
Requested by @carolinecch. Caroline would like to be able to compare multiple volumes simultaneously by opening each in an external Vol-E tab.
## Solution
Right click context menu or button in gallery view to open externally? Or, in 3D viewer, add a button to open in external view (preserves existing settings in URL)
## Alternatives
Questions:
- Should the button link be in the expanded thumbnail gallery?
- Should it be activated by middle clicking on thumbnails?
- Should there a button in the 3D view to open in an external Vol-E tab?
- Should it be inside the Vol-E view itself, and controllable via a parameter?
