Clicked cells are not highlighted until plots update

## Description

When clicking cells in the plot view, they are not highlighted until the plot is updated (like changing the axis feature).

## Expected Behavior

_What did you expect to happen instead?_

## Reproduction

Click single cells on plot one by one.
cells do not get highlighted on plot.
change plot axes. selected cells will now be highlited dots on plot.
now select some more single cells.
They will not be highlighted until you change plot axes again.
