web extension not tracking correctly in Vivalid

When using the latest version of Vivaldi the web extension for only tracks up to 1-2 minutes at a time and then stops for a few minutes and then repeats giving incorrectly tracked time. Opening the service worker in a separate window through the extension settings page (dev tools window) does yield correct behavior but as soon as this window is closed it reverts back to the incorrect behavior.

Enabling "Allow in incognito" or other settings such as Lazy Load or disabling energy saver has no effect on the issue.
