Automatically export JSON on regular basis?

I'm interested in automatically exporting data from activity watch on windows so that other scripts can parse the data on a regular basis automatically. My first thought was to have the scripts interact with the database directly, but I wonder if it's easier to manage the JSON. Has anyone done anything like this before?
