Research direction

No file or test is named. Start by tracing the API Mediation Layer onboarding failure that currently reports EDC51I Broken pipe, then inspect how expired certificates are detected and errors are surfaced. Done means an expired certificate produces a message telling the customer that it has expired and a new certificate is required.
