Description
Strangely enough, not many open source file managers have file type aggregators or libraries(Categories), i.e. Images(.jpg, .png) or Documents(.pdf, .xlsx) like other closed source file managers do. They only display files from one directory rather than aggregate multiple files of the same file type from different directories.
This could be implemented in the side bar or even a home page.

Research direction
Start by reviewing the existing file-listing behavior and the sidebar or home page, which the issue suggests as possible locations. Define how categories such as Images and Documents should aggregate matching files across directories, and consider the feature done when those grouped files can be browsed reliably from the chosen location.
