Issues with Ubuntu 22.04 vmware

Hi, I installed Ubuntu on VMware workstation 17 pro and installed zerotier with the one liner code. Im using a MSI ge76 raider laptop and on 5ghz WiFi network.

I then connect the Ubuntu VMware OS and my OnePlus android to the network. On my android, I use cx explorer and attempt to access the UbuntuOS files through cx's smb. It won't work. This entire process works fine with win10/11. On winOS, I'm able to access and transfer files from the cx explorer app through the smb option which I allow certain folders to be shared. With Ubuntu, the process just times out and I can't even access the Ubuntu vm from the cx explorer smb option.

I enter the IP address, user and PW just the same as I would with win10/11.

Any suggestions on what I may be forgetting or not configuring with Ubuntu. I've made sure the users on Ubuntu are the correct user and PW. I've attempted using the bridge feature and selecting zerotier with no luck. Any links that break this down would be highly appreciated. I just couldn't find a source with the situation I'm having.
