Description

After installing 2.16.1 on Windows random files with Chinese characters in filenames popup in Windows Explorer. It appears that files are in the Desktop folder, but if I actually minimize all windows, there are no such files on the desktop. If I click on one of them to open with Notepad, it says file not found.

After a few minutes they disappear from the Explorer on their own, along with Zap shortcut icon.

It is reliably, 100% reproducible by installing/updating 2.16.1 again. This is so weird.

Research direction

Reproduce the 2.16.1 installation or update on Windows and observe Windows Explorer, the Desktop folder, and the ZAP shortcut. There are no files or tests named in the report; done means the phantom Chinese-named files and disappearing shortcut no longer appear after installation.
