Description

Please, answer some short questions which should help us to understand your problem / question better?

  • Which image of the operator are you using? registry.opensource.zalan.do/acid/postgres-operator:v1.8.0
  • Where do you run it - cloud or metal? Kubernetes or OpenShift? Bare Metal K8s
  • Are you running Postgres Operator in production? yes
  • Type of issue? question

I have a list of questions that are related to the Postgres Operator and Backups.

  1. PGO supports only logical backups for Azure. Do you have any plans to support other options e.g. Kubernetes Volumes?
  2. PGO can store WAL files in S3. Do you have any plans to support other storage types?
  3. PGO doesn't have physical backups. Do you have any plans to integrate some solution e.g. wal-g or pgBackRest?
  4. Do you have any roadmap for the features including backup-related features?

Research direction

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by reviewing the operator's current backup capabilities and roadmap, then determine whether each of the four requested areas has an existing plan; done would mean providing clear answers about storage options, physical backups, and backup-related roadmap items.
