Description

[Suggestion / Feature] Chat folders / workspace organization + full-text search in chat.z.ai

Verified demand: ~248 messages ask for folders / workspace organization; ~36 ask how to search or find old chats. Users lose track of past conversations and cannot organize them by project.

Proposal:

  1. Folders / projects to group chats (e.g. by client, by experiment).
  2. Full-text search across all past chats from the sidebar.

Why this matters: As power users accumulate dozens of chats, the lack of organization pushes them to external tools. In-product folders + search keeps work inside chat.z.ai and improves retention.

Roman

Research direction

The issue proposes two product capabilities for chat.z.ai: grouping chats into folders or projects and searching the full text of past chats from the sidebar. Start by identifying the relevant implementation entry points, then define completion as usable organization and search across existing chats; the payload names no files or tests.
