Consider deprecating old models API

**Feature request**
It would be great to have analytics for utils.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_analytics` with default `false`.

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by locating the configuration handling and utility code in the repository, then clarify what analytics should cover and how production deployments will consume it; done should include a disabled-by-default enable_analytics option and agreed analytics behavior.
