Add TypeScript types for components

**Feature request**
It would be great to have encryption for auth.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_encryption` with default `false`.

No files, tests, or entry points are named, and the title conflicts with the request about encrypted authentication. First identify the configuration and authentication entry points, then clarify the encryption scope and expected behavior; done should include a default-disabled enable_encryption option and corresponding coverage.
