Improve helpers performance

**Feature request**
It would be great to have import for helpers.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_import` with default `false`.

No file, test, or entry point is named. Start by locating the existing configuration and helper-loading paths, then clarify what “import for helpers” means in production deployments. Done should include the new enable_import option defaulting to false, defined behavior when enabled, and tests for both settings.
