Add TypeScript types for helpers

**Feature request**
It would be great to have logging for components.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_logging` with default `false`.

The issue names no files or tests, and its title conflicts with the body. First locate the helper definitions and configuration entry point, then clarify whether the goal is TypeScript declarations, component logging, or both. Done should be defined with tests for the agreed behavior and the false default.
