Add unit tests for components

**Feature request**
It would be great to have retry for utils.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_retry` with default `false`.

No files, tests, or entry points are named. Start by locating the utils or component code and the existing configuration handling, then trace how related options are tested; done means retry behavior is controlled by enable_retry and defaults to false, with unit coverage for the new option.
