Add TypeScript types for components

**Feature request**
It would be great to have encryption for routes.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_encryption` with default `false`.

First reconcile the title, which requests TypeScript types for components, with the body, which requests route encryption. Read the route handling and configuration entry points, then determine the expected behavior of the `enable_encryption` option, including its default of `false`; done requires an agreed scope and tests for the selected feature.
