Add configuration options for timeout

**Feature request**
It would be great to have search for handlers.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_search` with default `false`.

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. First inspect how configuration options are defined and how handlers are discovered or searched; clarify whether the requested timeout in the title is related to the enable_search option. Done means a documented default-false enable_search setting enables handler search without changing existing behavior.
