Optimize components for large datasets

**Feature request**
It would be great to have logging for handlers.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_logging` with default `false`.

No files, tests, or entry points are named. Start by locating the handler implementation and configuration parsing, then trace how runtime messages are emitted. Add the opt-in enable_logging setting with a false default and verify that handler activity is logged only when enabled.
