Handle edge cases in analytics

**Feature request**
It would be great to have import for middleware.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_import` with default `false`.

No files or tests are identified in the issue. Start by locating the middleware import path and configuration handling, then inspect existing config options and their tests; done should mean the new option defaults to false and the intended middleware import behavior is covered.
