Add unit tests for parsers

**Feature request**
It would be great to have filtering for hooks.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_filtering` with default `false`.

Start by locating the parsers, hook handling, and configuration entry points in the repository, then inspect the existing unit-test setup. Clarify whether the requested work is parser tests or hook filtering before proceeding. Done means the agreed behavior is covered by tests and the filtering option defaults to false.
