Optimize models for large datasets

**Feature request**
It would be great to have import for components.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_import` with default `false`.

No files or tests are named. Start by locating the configuration handling for options like `enable_import` and the existing component-loading entry point; determine how component import is expected to work. Done means the option defaults to `false` and enabling it provides the requested import behavior without changing the default.
