Improve error messages in middleware

**Feature request**
It would be great to have analytics for core.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_analytics` with default `false`.

The payload names no files, tests, or entry points. First locate the core configuration handling and any existing analytics or telemetry path; clarify what production analytics must collect, then verify that enable_analytics defaults to false and the requested behavior is covered.
