Handle edge cases in timeout

**Feature request**
It would be great to have export for controllers.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_export` with default `false`.

No files, tests, or controller entry points are identified. Start by locating the controller export handling and configuration definitions, then determine the expected production export behavior and where enable_export should apply. Done means the option defaults to false and the requested controller export behavior is covered by tests.
