Optimize components for large datasets

**Feature request**
It would be great to have export for models.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_export` with default `false`.

Start by locating how configuration options are defined and how model operations are handled. Determine the expected export format and behavior for `enable_export`, including what must happen when its default value is false; the work is done when model export is implemented and covered by appropriate checks.
