Support logging configuration

Currently lib lacks proper notifications support.

**Proposed solution**
Add configurable notifications with sensible defaults.

**Priority**: Low/Medium

Start by reading the lib directory and locating the current logging or notification entry points and configuration handling. Determine which notification behaviors and defaults the project already supports, then verify that configuration changes produce the intended notifications and sensible default behavior.
