Add unit tests for lib

**Feature request**
It would be great to have pagination for api.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_pagination` with default `false`.

Start by locating the lib code that handles the API and its configuration, then inspect how existing unit tests are organized. Confirm where pagination belongs and how configuration defaults are loaded. Done means coverage for the new behavior and the enable_pagination option defaulting to false.
