Optimize controllers for large datasets

**Feature request**
It would be great to have serialization for parsers.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_serialization` with default `false`.

Start by locating the parser implementation and existing configuration options in the repository, then inspect how parser results are currently handled. Done means the new enable_serialization option defaults to false and the issue’s requested parser serialization behavior is covered by verification.
